A homebuyer has bought her childhood dream home at David Wilson Homes’ River Meadow development in Stanford in the Vale after needing space for her growing family.
Chloe Robson (29), who works in training for Thames Valley Police, drew pictures of her dream house as a child which included a path leading to the front door, three windows on the top floor, and a bay window below. Now Chloe and her family – husband James (32), a Nurse Manager for a local GP Surgery, and their son Oscar (2) – find themselves sitting in a bay window which matches Chloe’s childhood dream home perfectly.
Chloe said: “The first night we officially moved in it all felt like a dream. I was convinced someone was going to knock on the door and say there had been some sort of mistake!”
Chloe and James previously owned a three-bedroom house with the intent to have enough room for any children they would have in the future. When Oscar was born, the couple realised they’d need more space to grow with their son which led them to purchase a four-bedroom Avondale style home at the Ware Road community.
Chloe continued: “We knew that our two-year-old boy would soon be a teenager who, if anything like his dad, would be repairing bikes in the living room. We also recognised that his bedroom in our previous house would get a double bed in and not much else.”
The couple are delighted with the customer service from David Wilson Homes and have sung the developer’s praises during their house-hunting journey.
“David Wilson Homes have made our dreams come true”, said Chloe, “they have looked after us so well since we moved in. I really feel like I have built a lovely relationship with everyone working on site, and they are all so thoughtful and caring – it’s the little things like the Site Manager knocking on the door to ask if it’s alright to cut the grass at what he thought would be nap time for Oscar.”
The couple have been in the local area for the past seven years and the amenities nearby were the main factor in the couple deciding to stay in Stanford in the Vale. Situated nearby are three parks, a Co-op supermarket, pre-school, primary school, social club, football club and a community centre to host local events.
River Meadow is located just a short drive from Swindon and Oxford city centres, which means the Robson family have plenty of opportunities for days out.
Chloe said: “Everything we need is at our fingertips yet there is still a welcoming village feel.
“People still say ‘good morning’ to each other when walking and the village came together during the COVID-19 crisis to support each other as neighbours. There is always someone willing to help when needed.”
The couple’s move was aided by the use of Part Exchange where David Wilson Homes bought their existing property to enable them to move into their dream home quicker.
Chloe said: “The Part Exchange scheme was seamless and our dreams were becoming a reality. The Stamp Duty Holiday was extended and we were left with a nice pot of money to make our house a home.
“Alongside this, David Wilson Homes agreed as a result of the Part-Exchange for a week’s licence to occupy on our old property which meant we could be in both houses for a week and move in gradually. We were able to have our own flooring contractors come in and fit the floor and for us to fully decorate, build way too much flat pack furniture, and settle in before moving Oscar across.”
Rob Allen, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes Southern, said: “We are thrilled to hear that Chloe and James are pleased with their new home at River Meadow and we couldn’t be happier to hear their kind comments about our customer service.
“We pride ourselves on providing a positive moving experience and we hope the family enjoy many happy memories here.”
River Meadow currently has one, three, four and five bedroom homes available with prices starting from £255,000.
