First-time buyers looking to step onto the housing ladder in Devizes can take advantage of the new Help to Buy scheme at a local Bellway development.

Quakers Walk, located to the north of Devizes, has a selection of two and three-bedroom houses available to purchase under the revised Government initiative.

The new version of Help to Buy allows first-time buyers to purchase a new-build home with a five per cent deposit and a 75 per cent mortgage – it is no longer available to existing homeowners. The remaining 20 per cent is provided in the form of an equity loan from the Government, which is interest free for the first five years of homeownership.

Homes eligible to be purchased under the scheme must be priced under the cap set for their region. For Wiltshire, which falls within the South West, the price cap is £349,000.

At Quakers Walk, there’s a choice of three-bedroom properties under this limit – the detached Sandford, priced from £346,500, and semi-detached Shipton, from £323,000 – as well as the two-bedroom Olive terraced home from £254,995.

Christel Hawkins, Sales Manager for Bellway South West, said: “Quakers Walk is a prime development for those seeking to take advantage of the new Help to Buy scheme, as there is a good mix of smaller properties that cater to the needs of first-time buyers.

“The Government-backed initiative means that first-time purchasers at this development could become the owners of a spacious three-bedroom home that might previously have been out of their budget.

“The three-bedroom designs available with the scheme both feature open-plan kitchen/dining rooms, separate living rooms and en-suite master bedrooms, while the site’s desirable location in the market town of Devizes also means that first-time homeowners will be in commutable distance of Chippenham, Swindon and Bath, as well as being surrounded by areas of green open space.”

Bellway is building 123 new homes at Quakers Walk, comprising a mix of two, three and four-bedroom houses. A new community is already beginning to take shape at the development, with the first residents having recently moved in.
