As the UK domestic football season kicks off, the English football fans who will drive the furthest in the top-flight to support their team have been revealed.
The analysis by TrackDays.co.uk, which also offers football gifts including stadium tours, shows it is supporters from the north east who face the greatest distance to travel to away fixtures over the 2026-27 season.
Top of the distance to travel list are fans of Newcastle United F.C. who will clock up around 8,200 miles over the next 10 months if they go to all of the team’s top-flight away league fixtures, closely followed by supporters of Sunderland A.F.C. with around 8,000 miles.
Put in context, 8,000 miles is about the same distance as a return flight from the UK to Chicago.
On the other hand, it is supporters of Midlands based top-flight teams who have less to travel, primarily Aston Villa F.C. and Coventry City Football Club who will travel much shorter distances, about 4,700 miles and 4,500 miles respectively, although this is still more than flying from the UK to Greenland and back.

Other supporters racking up the miles include those from south coast teams AFC Bournemouth and Brighton & Hove Albion, who face treks of around 7,900 miles and 6,900 miles respectively over the course of the 2026/27 season.
Imran added: “It’s vital to remain safe behind the wheel, whether that’s when going to support your football team or any time on the road. Drivers should give themselves plenty of time so as not to rush, be courteous to other road users and always obey driving laws.”
