No supermarket would be complete without the freshest fruit and veg making it onto shelves and ensuring this happens at Asda Patchway is 18-year-old Jack Cowles who’s been climbing the ladder since leaving school and joining the retailer aged just 16.
Jack joined the Patchway store at just 16, with the aim of raising funds for a charity trip to Borneo.
A keen volunteer and charitable youngster, during his trip Jack climbed several mountains, lived in jungle depths and even helped build paths and schools for the local community in Borneo.
Returning to the Patchway store shortly afterwards, Jack rose through the ranks at Asda.
After demonstrating his skills and commitment in store, Jack was given the role of section leader, making him one of the youngest holders of manager status in the Bristol area.
Jack Cowles, section leader at Asda Patchway said: “My job here in store has really improved me as a person.
“Whilst there is much responsibility for me here at Patchway, working as a section leader has taught me the skills I need to succeed and more importantly, shown me that I have them!”
Matt Dodd, store manager at Asda Patchway, said: “Jack is one of the many shining examples of colleagues we have here in store.
“He’s truly an asset to the team, well respected by the community and colleagues alike and we’re thrilled to have him on board!
“As one of the youngest section leaders in the country, we have no doubt he’ll achieve great things with Asda!”
With plenty of management experience under his belt already, Jack hopes to continue his hard work and further his career under the supermarket brand.
